大切なもの (Important Things)

It has been too long since my last post.

I have been occupied. Occupied, distracted, lazy, unmotivated, busy, exhausted… Or perhaps I have lost my muse. My last post was September 2013. It is now the end of January 2014. About 4 months have passed without my recording of it. That’s…. Unfortunate. However, I’m motivated once more and I’ll start again.

In August 2013, I had my convocation.

Well, at least I think it was August. I don’t recall. The significance of the ceremony, with my family there watching be receive my degree, was perhaps them watching their support manifested physically. Everything I had worked towards and they had supported me in, I guess was in this education.

As the youngest in the family, I feel it’s a “SHE FINALLY HAS A DEGREE” moment, so I’m glad everyone came… to sit there for hours just to watch my 10 seconds on that stage. That’s love, ya’ll.

Because at the end of it all, they are the ones who have seen me at my stupidest, most unglamorous and unlovable moments. I don’t know why they still love me.

But I’m glad. (Yes, all my family members are short. This is where I get it from…)

I’m glad that they support me in whatever I do, be it my dreams or my work. They may never get to hear these words from me directly because I am Asian and we very hardly do all these loving things, but I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by them. By their support.

After receiving my degree, I looked at what I spent the last 3-4 years of my life slaving for. All the memories I made in Lasalle. All the things that I learned. I would definitely say the experience was worth it. I had my ego stripped away. I was discouraged. I was empowered. I never imagined myself knowing so much and falling in love with all this… Art.

The paper is a just a piece of paper. But everything behind it is priceless.

Mother.
Mother.

And most importantly, thank you momma. My mother is the greatest gift God could have given me. I don’t think I’ll be able to understand why she does so much for me. All those years of me studying she has always got my back. I mean, you want to understand undeserved grace? MOTHERS LOVE. See, now I’m tearing up as a write this. So, thank you God for giving me this mom to help me fathom just a fraction of how much You love me…

So what now, after I graduated?

In November, I went to Japan. I left my heart there. You know how sometimes, you feel that this is where you need to be? There are no logical explanations for why I need to be there so much. I fell in love again. I’ll upload photos from my phone and do a whole other post sometime.

In December, I was involved in Yellow Chair Productions’ version of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. It was a beautiful experience, working with an entirely new bunch of people that are not my classmates. We’re having our post-production party soon, so more on that when it happens.

Right now, my work life consists of:

  • Teaching Drama, both kindergarten and secondary schools.
  • Barista at Maison Ikkoku
  • Research project for Aole and Elizabeth
  • Assisting Adam in Grotowski class at Lasalle
  • Acting for Rachel’s graduation show

Other than that, I’m still learning Japanese and will be beginning my Intermediate 3 lessons soon. I hope to be able to find time to update more in the following days to come.

Until then, take care.

All that jargon.

Well, I survived the move to my own domain. I really do have Scott L from GatorHost to thank – I was up till 4AM trying to move wordpress to a domain. I still have issues with the table width of the ‘blog’ section, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Anyone with experience tweaking wordpress themes?

The site definitely  isn’t where I want it to be yet, but it’ll do for now.

Tomorrow (or today) is the open dress for “6 Characters in search of an Author”. I should get to sleep.

I also need to catch up on my thesis readings.

Until then,

fullhouse with len and chlo

Well, got loads of things to blog about, but here’s one where Len, Chlo and I went to Fullhouse @ Rendezvous Hotel for dinner.

It was meant to be a WAY belated birthday present presentation for me (my birthday is in October). Yes, we give gifts really late to each other. Ni Ta kor was supposed to be there, but he couldn’t make it. 😦 We still owe him his belated birthday present. Yeah.

The menu has a really cute comic at the back, but it looks like it’s been translated with google translate. T.T Really bad fansubs. Haha!

And this is us. I’m so glad to have known these awesome people. Chlo whom I’ve known for 7 years now, and Len for… Uhh.. 10? 11? 12? I don’t know. Len was the one who introduced me to Chlo in the first place. I’m a naturally introverted and socially awkward person so thank God for Len who makes all the friends for me and taught me human interaction. HAHA! -bricked-

And then the food~

Chlo’s Aglio Olio. It’s baby tomatoes, not cut-up sausages.
Chicken.
Len’s Fish
Wedges.

Yeah, the food isn’t that great. The mashed potatoes were nice.

The decor for the place is great,I guess. Food? Ho-hum. :\

My present!

Len and Chlo with my present. I don’t know why they bothered wrapping it up. I already know what it is. Haha. Yes, we have a system where we shamelessly tell each other what we want, and give them a helpful ebay link.

A la prize presentation
“Oh gee~ I wonder what it is!”

Then opening it..

Carefully trying to open it so as to not rip the wrapper.

5 minutes later…

“Arghhh screw you sticky tape!”
At last!

^_^ Jil by Jil Sander, which I can’t find in Singapore. ❤

Oh what a pleasant surprise!

After dinner, we headed to Cold Stone @ Orchard Central. If you look on the ceiling, you see stains of ice cream that they tossed up too high.

I love you girls. Mwah.

To more crazy things!

Have yourself a Merry Christmas?

Christmas is over and I will be covering…

1. Camp Limitless
2. Christmas
3. Random updates
4. Awesome shit

Grab a cup of tea and start scrolling.

Act hipster pic.

1. Camp

Camp was awesome. It took place on the 19th-22nd in JB with about 50 odd campers. This is the smallest camp I’ve been to so far. Usually they are grouped into 8 teams, but this time we only had 6. Nevertheless, it was amazing. It ran really smoothly with hardly any hiccups.

Being on the games/special night committee, we prayed for good weather and I am once again amazed by the awesomeness of the Lord. Why? Because it has been raining in SG for a few days/weeks, and I was worried for camp. So one day I was requesting during prayer, that it would not rain during camp games. Then I added on to say “No sun, either. Cool weather with a slight breeze. Rain at night can, then the morning would be nice and cool.” Someone then volunteered me to pray because of this ‘asking too much’ request. And we did. And guess what? SURPRISE SURPRISE. Weather during camp was perfect. No sun. Cool weather with a slight breeze. Rained at night and drizzle in the morning. Special night game went SO WELL. I serve a faithful God. 🙂

Went so many steps this camp. Fallen for my Savior all over again.

2. Christmas

The theme was “The good old days”

Becks, Bestie, Me!

80s rocker, hippy, and the children’s side did a cowboy/country theme. So many kids came for the event.

Post-church, Philip, Ben and I went to Isa’s place for Christmas dinner!

And one more of Ben. This look suits him tbh.

Wah so fierce scared how? xD

3. Random updates

Secretly taken photo

Went to a tea place near my house with Len and Chlo. They didn’t allow photos so here’s one I sneaked.

Sparkly guitar!

Bestie just got a Duesenberg Starplayer TV in silver sparkle and it’s insanely pretty so I took a picture of it. And I’m also very proud of myself that I remembered the name of it. It’s really heavy though. >_>

I haz duesenberg!

Behind me is Lesters’ (also new) Gretsch White Falcon. It’s a hollow body, compared to Ben’s which is semi-hollow, making it really massive but pretty light. I am also amazed at myself for knowing this. I blame my best friend who rattles on about this so much that I remember.

le gasp it is massive!

And this is the white falcon in proportion to me. It covers my torso. :O But it’s really really pretty! Hahahah I sound like a bimbo now.

What you can do with small eyes.

A completely random picture of Ben and Je putting counters on their eyelids. This is what one can do with small eyes.

Yup, this is whats’ been happening around me for the past few weeks. Hahahaha.

4. Awesome Shit

What awesome shit could I possibly be talking about?! :O Well, if you follow me on Twitter, you’d know that I recently got a Kindle! 😀 It’s an ebook reader that doesn’t illuminate like an ipad, but it’s like reading on paper!

Unboxing the kindle!

Tadaaaaah! 😀 I’ve downloaded the Harry Potter series and the 4 agreements so far. Slowly downloading more… Thank you Mommy for this awesomeness. 8D #blessed

And if the Kindle wasn’t enough, I’m blessed even more with something I’ve been missing for a very long time. And I’m looking forward to using it. 🙂

AAAH!

Helllooooo sexy! 😀 I was looking at the Olympus EP3 at first, but da ge (my oldest brother) recommended the Panasonic GX1, and yes, it’s so much better!

Unboxing unboxing....

I’m really really excited because I haven’t been able to take proper photos in a while, and I’ve been looking at micro 4/3s and AH SO EXCITING! 🙂 The next few photos are taken with the GX1. Which I’m naming Megumi (blessing), because I’ve really been blessed so much this year.

Have a wonderful December ahead. I’ll be taking more photos! 🙂

but still the hardest things to say are the words that mean the most

Hello everyone, I’m a year 2 actor now. 🙂 So here are some quick updates!

B&J's Ice Cream :3

Went for Jazz 1 and 2 with Joanne at Jitterbugs before the school term started. I couldn’t walk the next day I tell ya! The ice cream was a treat we (Joanne + people from jitterbugs) shared to console our sad muscles. On a brighter note, Jazz does get easier, but still hurts nonetheless. -pats painful butt and thighs-

Isazzzz on the phone

Met up with Isa for some shopping before school started as well. ❤ Crazy vain girl! Haha.

^_^

You can’t really tell from the above picture – but I had an eye infection and one eye swelled up pretty badly. T_T But I’m better now!

Then we went for welcome concert to meet the new level 1s, making us level 2s, which I still can’t believe. WE SURVIVED!!! 🙂

with Sherri @ POW

Went to Prince of Wales for drinks after.  Where I had strawberry and lime cider which was damn yummy. Tasted like snapple. HAHA.

Said pretty drink

Then school started, which was hell because we all couldn’t walk after Kalari, then ballet, then Kalari every week. THE BURN. On a brighter note, Iggy went to Japan and came to school on the first day donned in a yukata.

Konnichiwa~

That is all. Am doing a show 21st Sept, more details soon. Pray I survive Level 2. ❤

2010 is ending.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, hm? So many events have come and gone, and now it’s a week before semester 2 begins and I’m going to be really busy again.

On the 16th, we had an epic Christmas + Thanksgiving dinner ala How I Met Your Mother. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, pasta, meatballs, salad and HOT WINGS. To quote Philip, “Awesome food, awesome friends. What more could a guy ask for.”

Damn right. What else could I ask for? We made all this from semi-scratch (well we stuck the pre-marinated turkey in the oven…) and most of the fun came from making it. From stuffing the turkey’s ass to waiting for super long for potatoes to cook, then trying to figure out the instructions for cranberry sauce, it was an awesome evening.

Tab and Aalya!

Hehe. Tabbi, Aalya, Ben and I went to Tabbi’s place earlier to prepare for dinner! Ben is in the background trying to peel carrots. Isa wasn’t here yet cos of flight delays, Philip had to work. So the rest of us who had no life met up earlier to cook! It was epic. We were all staring at the turkey for a while, then a very brave Aalya volunteered to stick her hand up the turkey’s ass and stuff the stuffing in. The turkey came with instructions on a sticker which Ben took out and started playing with it, so we all did the childish thing by sticking it on each other and we lost it. So we just stuck it in the oven without reading instructions. IT WORKED YAY.

Meanwhile, I was staring at the potatoes and willing for them to cook. They took like an hour to soften! :/ Ben was chopping veggies and Tabbi was cooking awesome pasta. When Philip finally arrived, dinner was almost done, save for the cranberry sauce for the turkey.

Funny story about the cranberry sauce. You see, it came in this little packet and it said “Put into 1 litre of boiling water”. We were all like ‘1 litre?! That’s a lot!” So we poured the sauce into about 300ml of hot water and stared at the strange suspension of sauce and water. Someone said ‘Lets stir it.” So we did. It didn’t thicken. Philip, still being positive, said, “It’s okay! It’ll thicken!” But it didn’t. Then suddenly there was an epiphany.

“I think we’re supposed to put the packet into hot water without opening the packet to heat the sauce up.”

Oh. Stupid instructions! Just say heat the sauce up la!

Obviously photoshopped philip.

Pre-eating! Isa’s not here yet cos her flight was delayed! 😦

Our only group pic, without Isa, too. 😦

Yes there was chocolate fondue, courtesy of Aalya! ❤ We had an abundance of leftovers which Ben brought home and finished. After the dinner, we were all damn stuffed. I think I rolled home man. We all watched Despicable Me on the couch, then went back home. I love my friends. ❤

————————————-

Boot Camp was amazing. First time in the Camp Comm and WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. First time having evil period of doom in 5 years of having camp, so yay I survived! It all ran really smoothly and there’s only God to thank for that! ❤ Photos on facebook! Go stalk!

And Je was damn cute during Special Night! +382478234970 points! HAHA. I’m really amazed at the effort the groups put in for Special Night la. So touching. -sobs-

Was also my first time leading devotion in the mornings. So… Wow. Definitely grew alot in this camp. ❤

————————————

Christmas Celebration in Church right after camp! Woaah! K.Oed for super long after camp so was kinda recharged for THE KING HAS COME on the 24th!

Wonder Girls!

Our wonder girls act went pretty well, I thought! The kids seemed to love it, and I hope they did! So many kids came on the 24th, and they came back on Sunday for Powerhouse. Thank YOU Jesus! Yay!

With Isaz

Anyway, after everything, Ben Flip Isa and I went with a bunch of other guys to play L4D2! ❤ Hehe. Fun stuff.

Isa and Ben

What a year 2010 has been. And what a year 2011 will be, I pray. This has been the happiest year of my life so far. I’ve grown and learned so much. I never imagined myself, 18 years old, still surviving. It’s been tough, but I trust in the Lord. ❤

Ben and I

This year I rediscovered my closest friends, I lived through half a year of acting school, and I’ve become stronger than I’ve been before. I never imagined I’d come this far without cracking, but I have. By God’s redeeming grace, I’m back.

Forgiven. Saved. Caught in His arms. Even when I failed You, You still loved me.

Thank You Lord.
